Garrick McFadden: Absolutely. Attending USC Gould School of Law was transformative for me, both personally and professionally. USC’s motto is “Fight On!”—a phrase that has stuck with me throughout my career. It’s more than just a slogan; it’s a mindset of resilience, determination, and advocacy. Interviewer: Many Avondale personal injury lawyers enter the field because they feel pushed into it by circumstances or limited opportunities. How is your story different?

Garrick McFadden: That’s a great question. One thing that sets me apart is that I didn’t become a personal injury lawyer because I had to—I chose this path because I wanted to make a difference in my community. USC Gould is one of the top 20 law schools in the country. Graduating from there opened doors for me that many lawyers don’t have access to. I wasn’t limited to fields like criminal defense or bankruptcy law—fields often seen as “low status” by some in the legal profession.

In fact, before founding GAMESQ, PLC, I was a Silicon Valley tax lawyer for Deloitte, one of the most prestigious firms in the world. I worked on complex tax matters for some of the biggest companies in the country. But after seeing how underserved communities were being exploited by some of these large advertising law firms, particularly when it came to personal injury cases, I made the conscious decision to pivot my career and focus on protecting car accident victims in Arizona.

Interviewer: That’s an incredible transition—from Silicon Valley tax law to personal injury law in Avondale, Arizona. What motivated you to make that change?

Garrick McFadden: It was personal for me. During my sabbatical from practicing law, I saw firsthand how big advertising firms were mishandling cases—especially cases involving Black clients. These firms often prioritize profits over people, sending clients to lien-based chiropractors or other providers who inflate medical bills without addressing real injuries. This approach not only harms clients’ recoveries but also destroys the value of their cases.

One story that sticks with me is about a client’s son whose case was ruined by one of these firms. They failed to secure a liability determination early on and sent him to a chiropractor when he needed proper medical care for his knee injury. By the time he came to me, there was little I could do because of how badly his case had been handled from the start.

That’s why I got back into personal injury law—to protect my community from these predatory practices and ensure that every client gets ethical representation and real results.

Interviewer: You’ve mentioned that your USC education has given you access to an incredible network of legal minds. How does that benefit your clients?

Garrick McFadden: One of the greatest advantages of attending USC is the alumni network—it’s truly second to none. When I face complex legal challenges or need insights on cutting-edge strategies, I can reach out to some of the best legal minds in the country who are also USC alums. This network allows me to stay ahead of trends in Arizona personal injury law and bring innovative solutions to my clients’ cases.

For example, if there’s a novel legal argument that could benefit one of my clients or a new piece of technology like Tesla crash footage that could help prove liability, I have access to experts who can provide guidance and support.

Interviewer: Let’s talk about your approach at GAMESQ, PLC. How do your core values influence how you handle cases?

Garrick McFadden: My four core values—Empathy, Integrity, Transparency, and Results—are at the heart of everything we do at GAMESQ, PLC:

  1. Empathy: We treat every client as an individual and take the time to understand their unique needs and concerns.
  2. Integrity: We never cut corners or engage in practices that harm our clients’ cases—like sending them to lien-based providers just to pad someone else’s pockets.
  3. Transparency: From day one, we’re honest about what clients can expect from their cases—no false promises or misleading ads like those you see on Facebook or YouTube claiming minor accidents lead to massive payouts.
  4. Results: At the end of the day, everything we do is focused on achieving the best possible outcome for our clients.

These values guide every decision we make—from how we communicate with clients to how we negotiate with insurance companies.

Interviewer: You’ve mentioned that GAMESQ, PLC doesn’t follow some of the common practices used by big advertising firms—like sending clients to lien-based chiropractors or delaying liability determinations. Can you elaborate on why this is so important?

Garrick McFadden: Absolutely. Many big advertising firms treat clients like numbers—they’re more focused on volume than quality representation. They’ll send clients to lien-based chiropractors who provide unnecessary treatments just to inflate medical bills and increase their own profits. This approach harms clients in two ways:

  1. It makes their injuries seem less serious because insurance companies view chiropractic care as less credible than treatment from trusted medical professionals like orthopedists or primary care doctors.
  2. It eats away at their settlements because inflated medical bills leave little money left over for the client after everything is paid.

At GAMESQ, PLC, we do things differently:

  • We encourage clients to use their own trusted healthcare providers through their private insurance or AHCCCS (Arizona Medicaid).
  • We focus on proving liability early so our clients can get their cars repaired and access rental vehicles quickly.
  • We provide regular updates to insurance companies throughout the case so they can adjust reserves appropriately—this helps us secure top-dollar settlements faster.

Interviewer: Finally, what message would you like potential clients in Avondale and beyond to take away from this conversation?

Garrick McFadden: My message is simple: You deserve better than what most big advertising firms offer. At GAMESQ, PLC, we’re not just here to process claims—we’re here to fight for justice and ensure you get every dollar you’re entitled to.

I chose this path because I believe in protecting my community from predatory practices and providing ethical representation rooted in empathy and integrity. With my USC education and extensive trial experience across Arizona counties, I have both the tools and the passion needed to deliver real results for my clients.
